Try Hybrid mode and allow keys to get lit when touching the screen in kernel config, and disable in ROM.

I'm not 100% sure, long time I haven't looked at that...

JP, i'm using this kernel on latest slimkat. Is there anything in your kernel that prevents the screen to turn on in case of an incoming call? The reason i ask here is i saw something similar when searching for a solution to the problem i'm experiencing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=2629142 There it seems kernel related....... I also posted my problem in the slimkat forum on xda, not sure where I need to look for this problem :P

Well that exactly explains the problem :

ktweaker->extras and then set "disable screen off mhz call"

If you use a low screen off CPU max. the kernel will do just that, ensure the CPU (single core, normally !) will stay below or equal to that given max. freq.

That also means, the work to be done to start the phone app, retrieve the caller ID, get the contact, display the picture will all happen in slow motion, hence the feeling, the screen is not waking up on a call.

Hitting the Home (or Power) button will wake the screen sooner, and the will allow the kernel to use all 4 cores at full speed, so that speeds up the process.

This is a drawback you have to accept of you want screen off comsumption at the lowest.

As it looks Ktoonz seems to have a call detection to remove that limit upon receiving a call. I never looked into that direction, don't know how effective that actually is and if it's purely kernel or if a userspace (app) intervention is needed. Purely kernel, might be worth looking into that, else it's nothing I can help with, I don't have and don't plan making an app.

What you can do for now is either set screen off max. higher (up to the same freq. you use for screen on), which shouldn't cost that much battery (if you setup is clean on no rogue app keeps the CPUs at high freq. during screen off, or choose a different govenor which does not have a screen off CPU freq. control (but that just means screen off max = screen on max, so it's kind of the same thing).

Thanx for the feedback.

I had some issues, but I didn't expected that a (your) kernel could be the cause. There are also some fix there.
I'm running SlimKat. Now I'm using the new Google camera without any problems.
But if I look in the SlimKat forum on AH there are many problems with camera, but not everyone has your kernel, I guess.

Strange, cause the problem would come from upstreaming Linux, Googy's new kernel is 3.0.31, that's all there is about the camera fix, and looks it would not cause any issues...

But I've never had any issue myself when my i9300 was my daily, I do use Snap, never the stock camera, though...

If it's a camera lib that fixes the issue, the problem, or that problem at least, is not kernel related then...

Will have to find some time to do some testing ;)

Thanx for the feedback ;)

I am still facing music stuttering during screen off. I have tried CPU screen off clock to 1600 MHz and making CPU min upto 500MHz. Sometimes music also stutters in Pegasuas governors(in stock kernel also). Although there is no stuttering in Ondemand governor in stock kernel(Have tried both Omni and CM)
