Hi Yank! So you do recommend the use of swap? I always thought that swap was a thing of the past, from the days of the G1 (i remember when swap came out for it, it was a huge thing), but that it wasn't needed or that it wouldn't do any good to a newer device running a recent version of Android.

thx in advance

Putting those there is a ROM side change, I couldn't do that from the kernel, you'd need to ask the ROM cook if there a way to do it there.

Else, I'd have to use the full kernel side implememtation as it is in Perseus and I'm not willing to do it, it would take the kernel too far from stock, including many if not all of the other mali changes implemented, and that is a full no go for me. Plus to give full control in a userfriendly way, that would also mean adding stweaks support, again somewhere I won't go.

As a comparison, look at Boeffla Sound settings (less than color settings would be), are quite hard to configure without the Sound app (ok, once you have a setup, you can set it in Aroma, but find it would have been quite u practical from Aroma or terminal).

Here it would be the same without stweaks support.

So that was the long answer, the short is 'no' ;)

JP.

Yes and no.

With what we have in comouting Power, 1Gb of RAM is not enough.

But swap is a compromise, for some useage it works for others it won't.

Have a read of the FAQ in the swap thread, will help ;)

JP.

PS: Someone asked me implement the swap mod for the i9305 when it came out, there it didn't make much sense at all, even with high swappiness it would remain almost empty, but the i9305 has 2Gb of RAM...

Quick question, slightly off-topic...

Anyone running CM10.1 (or derivate) that managed to have cifs-manager (or manually mounting cifs shares) working on a late 4.2.2 release ?

Thanx, JP.

yank555, v1.5b isn't compatibility with cm10 (4.1.2)?
