Yank,
Any plan to update the kernel? There are lots of changes in the kernel ... as well as Temp Cam Fix. Boeffla implemented it but it broke zram.

The "Cam fix" is not a fix, it's just a reverted "mm" in the kernel, so it's a back to stock "mm" (as in memory management).

Do you have camera problems on mine ? I never looked, as I never had any ...

But going back on "mm" will most definately break zram in my kernel, considering the huge amount of stuff I had to include to get cleancache and zcache working in this 3.0.y kernel...

Just checked, there are only a few commits in the kernel...

Whenever you see changes, like those pointed to in CM's gerrit, 99% of them are ROM-side patches ;)

If you want to check what's new in the kernel, here is where you need to look.

My kernel only lacks the few commints after Feb 12, 2014.

The thing is, Samsung implemented CMA-DMA in memory management, good idea as it allowed to free up some RAM by only using Camera DMA RAM when the camera is started instead of all the time... maybe you recall the increased available RAM between ICS and JB ;)

Now upstreaming Linux past 3.0.38 was quite complicated, as kernel.org made loads of changes to mm, and I had to apply the same changes to the CMA-DMA sources myself manually adapting them to the CMA specifics.

Maybe I got that right... it was a very long evening / night to get that done.

Also as I read, the i9300 was built with different camera modules, so maybe some are pickier than others.

Your kernel is so good for battery life. However, the system partition (/system) is unwritable.

May be from the busybox in /sbin ...

Try using a different mount command, like in /system/bin or /system/xbin instead.

Would have to look at the CM repo, on n9005 no change from what I gather.

Will try to have a look tonight.
