Play until you have you settings then reflash in Aroma to "freeze" the settings.

Could you elaborate a little on what options to choose when we reflash in aroma to 'freeze' the changes made in Trickster? Thx

Well, it's pretty simple. Fiddle with trickster till you have it the way you like it, then make note of your settings and set them when flashing Aroma.

supreethms wrote:Hello, sir.

Recently after trying out many kernels (including yours) with Paranoid Android, i came across the new kernel by JustArchi.. ArchiKernel.. He specially said that it's based on Update 13 sources. Then, there were arguments between him and arter97 who has developed his arter-kernel. He claimed that his is based on U13 too. I re-read the changelogs of your previous releases (1.6i) and saw that there's U13 sources merged too.

Now, my doubt is.. googy_anas has specified that there is some sort of " CM CAMERA FIX" in his last release before he quit developing for i9300.
Could you please tell me if there is anything extra-ordinary with the fix and if you have merged it too.

And also.. Are yours and LordBoeffla's kernels PURELY based on U13 sources or combined smdk4412 sources?

Last question.. On my observations with boeffla's kernel, i observed that intelliactive has a very good effect on phone response and quite a good battery life. Would you be considering adding it? I could not find it in changelogs.

Thank you.

Quite a few questions ;) Let me answer them one by one ;)

Archi made an AOSP kernel based 100% on Samsung's Update 13 sources.

All other kernels are based on CM or OMNI sources, including Andi's and mine. I've merges the diff's for each update by Samsung 'on top' of this CM/OMNI base.

The result is obviously different, I hope you see what I mean.

Googy's camera fix is a simple revert to stock Samsung memory management, so he reverted all the Linux upstream changes in the "mm" subtree in the sources. If you want, his kernel is a 3.0.101 except in "mm" where it's a plain 3.0.33 (or whatever Sammy's base version is, too long I've been there ;))

I have not "included" this in my kernels, because I've made far too many changes in there and it would break zram, cleancache, zcache etc. Also I never face camera issues personally, so I never felt compelled to trade in the benefits of the above to fix something that wasn't broken (camera). But that is on my device...

For now I prefer zzmoove by far on Exynos, so intellactive / -demand is not on my roadmap for i9300.

Hope I could answer your questions.

JP.

PS: My TouchWiz kernels are of course based on Samsung Update source drops, I'm talking 'AOSP' here.

:D I know about the TouchWiz kernels sir. They MUST be based on the Samsung update source drops. As far as i have understood from your posts and other kernel OPs. :)
And thank you for the kind and straight answers. Understood every word of it.

But.. Another doubt just arised.. How exactly does a memory management revert change actually fix the camera? I mean.. I didn't quite understand that.. Sorry for my "Noob-y" behaviour.. But.. Since i just want to learn, i am asking.

Well the basic thought is that those changes would actually have been the cause of broken camera, so updating would have broken camera, reverting would have "undone the breaking", thus fixed it.

I'm not so certain of that, because of 2 things :

1) I have the very same changes in my TW kernels, and camera wors fine there

2) I read of a lot of other users complaining about camera issues using stock CM kernel, which does not have thoses changes

And above all, I haven't experienced camera issues myself, so ...

It's all kind of wild guesses ;)

Depends on how you set them up in Aroma.

If Carbon is 'CM-ish', choose ROM controlled in Aroma and turn them off in ROM.

Just a small headsup, I'll be away leaving on friday for 1 1/2 week, so will be peaking in on occasion, but don't expect a huge onlone presence, could take a little for me to answer.

Hey Yank,
Does your kernel work with the newest CM nightly? I really missed using your kernel ...
