Did Samsung release any sources for the Note 3? How's the sound? What dac setup does it use? :)

Cheers!

Kernel sources are available, as for the rest ... hmm ... but it's a Qualcom chipset, so there's more to have than on the Exynos version.

Anyway, I'll stay on TW this time, the additions are too many to lose (S-Pen expecially), except if those get somehow replicated on AOSP, which I don't really believe will happen.

Sound, good question, I have not yet connected a headset to it.

I know the soundchip is not a Wolfson anymore, obviously, but haven't digged any deeper so far (lack of time).

It's still unrooted, btw

Unrooted? How can you live without it? :O
Qualcomm are more infamous than famous if it comes to sound and clarity.
I guess, I have to stay with my S3.. :D

Cheers, and thank you for the informations!

Ps: how do you not get eye cancer from Touchwitz? :D

Well, as lomg as there is no recovery which can restore a nandroid without bootlooping until you issue a few commands through adb, I rather wait, I don't trust myself, onve it's rooted, I'll try out stuff and may need to restore a nandroid ;)

Well I'll try it out once I have rooted and compiled my first kernel for it ;)

TW is ... well ... you know what I mean, but Pen tools are pretty 'not bad at all' :D

Well, bootloops are no fun, so I can understand :D
Does the pen actually make it more efficient to use? I always felt it misplaced or useless on the Note 2 I had for a week. :D

Cheers!

Ps: I have the strange feeling that my next phone won't be by Samsung. (Neither by LG. Never again.) They've been such liars lately, they don't deserve a penny.

Honestly, yes ;) 2 things at least that I use / will use a lot :

  • Screenshot which you can annotate, pretty priceless to show something on a Forum without the use of a PC

  • Draw a rectangle, choose an app (once it's rooted, any app) and it will run in a Window the size of the rectangle you have drawn, plus it's resizable, minimizable (looks like Halo then), pretty cool !

The problem is, the Nexus 5 will also not fit the picture, I think as things go, more or less no company will derserve any money, but well, you'll have to go with the least worse.

I know. The Nexus 5 will have the S800 AFAIK, so no proper DAC, no proper space for music, etc. Also, it's by LG.
The most interesting devices at the moment are the Z1 by Sony, since they try to get "Dev cred", and the Meizu MX3 (which will have no sort of development). HTC are pretty much useless, Motorola are "dead", Asus is crazy overpriced, Huawei have no built quality what so ever. (Also no quality check. Glue between display and glas are normal)

The market is pretty sh*tty right now. But still better than the "competitors".

I'm receiving my unlocked black SM-N900T tomorrow.

My unlocked SHV-E300S 32GB goes to ebay. :)

Specs look the same as n9005, we'll see for the details, if the kernels are 100% the same ;)
