[n9005][2014/JAN/25][TW] Yank555.lu kernel - discontinued

Re: [n9005][2013/DEC/07][TW ROMs] Yank555.lu kernel v0.3

Postby yank555 » 08 Dec 2013, 18:58

How come they ran and don't run anymore ?!

This kernel is nowhere near faux's, it's very close to stock.

I didn't want to make kernels for devices I don't own, and I don't really know what is different for the N900T ?

Well, when you were building for the mi7 base, and I was on the mi7 base I could run them fine, but when u switched bases I started to run into quirky problems, well, I flashed one kernel and it booted fine it ran great but at some point I rebooted the device and ran into the brickloop issue, which at the time was a nightmare to fix (now their are flashable zips to fix issue) but it required running terminal through twrp wiping efs resetting partitions blah blah. So I thought at the time maybe was a twrp issue and continued to flash your latest builds but with issues after reboots locking up and constant brickloop which I eventually tracked back to the kernels and firmware at some point the base change wouldn't boot and would result in the brickloop everytime. So. Now I run faux and his betas.. which is cool. I know you are a busy man and you don't want or should have to build for a device you don't own and I was just curious.. I understand you are close to stock but was just asking.. thanks again for your time..

I had that once, when I switched to TWRP. Since then I'm back to CWM and it never happened again...

And I had that with both kernels, faux and this on, and I'm still on MI7 so never changed neither firmware nore source base.

hmm well when I was using the update faux base kernels is the issue for me. I had the issue exclusively with that kernel when the base was changed. So your kernel base bis still mi7 I'll give it a whirl. I have also have had issues with kernels made for tmo but based on sprint source. So idk. Touchy touchy. I'm not a huge twrp guy what so ever but the latest ones seem to work ok. I'll make a backup and do some testing and see what happens.. hopefully yours just works and the world will be all happy. On a non develolment related issue in st paul Minnesota it's 0 degrees outside ... brrrr wish my kids would turn 18 so we could move to Puerto rico:-)

My kernel is available in 2 versions, "prior to MJ6" and "MJ6 and newer".

Well since it's a different device, it may not work, I don't know the specifics, I have a n9005 and I can only test it on that one, that's an "hlteeur"...

Good Evening to all.
Hello Yank, this is George from Greece.
My new device in a SM-N9005 CSC XEH (Hungary).I've already rooted it (Universal De La Venga) and my current version is XXUDMJ7.
I will flash a custom recovery and then I'll try your Kernel.
I have red that I have to alter build.prop making this change first:ro.securestorage.support=false (default is true).
1)How can I do this?
2)Can you suggest a specific custom recovery to me?
Thank you in advance...

Just a detail, by doing anything of what you intend to, you will trip the knox warranty void efuse (0x1), just wanted to point that out ;)

To change build.prop you can use a text editor, you just need a file explorer which allows for root access and remounting /system in read/write mode, like this one.

As recovery, I highly recommend using Chenglu's CWM.
