TouchWake allows to turn screen on during the configured delay when the screen turns off itself.

If you use the power button, touchwake is disabled.

CM11 Kernel Update

No big deal, nothing has changed except default init.d handling in Aroma (ROM instead of ramdisk), since I had forgotten to do this, the settings still was in "Samsung ROM" setup. Maybe this can help for those getting lags on first boot (flash ROM plus kernel seems to make the device lag), though I never had that issue myself, it may come from init.d scripts getting run twice...

If the kernel works, no need redownloading and flashing, it's the very same kernel, you could also just reflash 0.8-beta3 and manually change the init.d setting in Aroma, that would be 100% the same !

Changelog v0.8-beta3+

  • updated default setting for init.d in Aroma (forgot to change this, CM11 is different from Samsung)

What device. Boot cm first, and then flash the kernel. My tmo wouldn't boot if I flashed the rom flashed gapps then flashed kernel it wouldn't boot but if I flashed the kernel after initial boot it would flash and boot

Update to 3.4.77

Postby piit79 » 23 Jan 2014, 20:25

.
I just merged Linux updates changes from 3.4.0 to 3.4.77 into Yank555's kernel. All credit goes to temasek, I just used his commits in his repo: https://github.com/temasek/android_kernel_samsung_hlte

If you're brave enough to help me test, grab the zip from the link below and flash it in recovery. Make sure you're flashing over the latest Yank555 kernel - this zip just updates the boot image and kernel modules.

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/pyg62 ... 3.4.77.zip

I've (obviously) installed this kernel on my Note 3 and so far haven't spotted any problems.

Just for reference, my repo is here: https://github.com/piit79/N3-AOSP-KK

@Yank555, I've created a pull request in your repo, see if you think it's worth merging :)

I'll use it as a comparison, since I saw CM kernel (just like Sammy's new Kitkat kernel) has loads of CAF commits in, I expect it will be easier to upstream than Sammy's 4.3 kernel, so I'll give it a go "in solo mode", using kernel.org commits directly on my repo.

But when I have time, cause I have a few ideas in my head that need getting coded (or I'll get crazy if they just keep staying in my head :D).

Thanx for your work and help !!

That makes sense, I heard about the big shake up in the hltexx tree. Anyway, I'm glad I had a go - quite surprised it all worked well :)

Looking forward to more updates of your kernel - the mDNIe tuning is a godsend, really liking the natural colours. Took a tiny bit of getting used to after having looked at the "in your face" oversaturated AMOLED for so long but it's much better.

CM11 Kernel Update

So setting screen off max low is good for battery ... but it's a pitty it will also cause a wakeup lag, since we just cannot have it all, can we ??

Well, YES WE CAN :D

You can now set a wakeup kick (frequency and delay) which will set CPU min. frequency to whatever you want for 0 to 10 seconds, so the wakeup process can be handled fast.

One little drawback, while this seems to work perfectly when you turn the device on, it doesn't when you receiver a phonecall, so whenever your device rings, just press home/power and you can speed up the wakeup quite a bit !

I'm just done coding this, so I haven't had the time to experiment much with it, try it out, find the settings that works best for you, my default is to kick the CPU to 2GHz for 1 second, working fine for me.

Changelog v0.8-beta4

  • updated ramfs to CM11 Nighlty 20140124
  • updated CPU Hardlimit to v1.3 introducing CPU wakeup kick CPU min frequency and delay (Yank555.lu)
