Yes, that had to happen, does each time I day something thelike, Murphy's law ;)

Which kernel / ROM were you on ?

Reboot was indeed mdss related, but 'different' indeed.

JP.

Sent from my Nexus 5 running official SlimKAT 7.0 on Yank555.lu v1.0 kernel.

W03 Slim 25 with with lite 1.0c kernel. How it happened was I was on github on chrome scrolling through a rather long commit. Scrolling was kind of jittery. I turned off the screen and a couple minutes later turned it back on. When I unlocked it it displayed chrome but it was unresponsive and didn't show the status bar. Rebooted shortly after.

OK, looks like it does have some kind of memory allocation issue (chrome is a memory hog, may not help) ... Maybe worth trying a newer on, with more CMA-DMA regions ?

And another kernel update - v1.0e :

arter97 looked for the spot in the kernel to access the vibrator control, I've revied the code slightly, so 75% (= warning level in Slim) now equals the so far kernel hardcoded vibration intensity.

On boot, vibration will default to 50%, though, so it will be less than it used to be, just set it back to 75% under Settings -> Advanced -> Device -> Haptic.

Links as usual in post 2 (full) and 3 (lite).

Got another one. On the lite e kernel and w03 25. Once again while browsing chrome but different site and no jittery scrolling prior to it. I didn't look at the last_kmsg since I'm at work.

mdss as usual ... :(

But I just saw a (very simple) commit in a Hammerhad kernel (Nexus 5) which may address this version of mdss crash (pingpong timeout).

Will spin a kernel tomorrow (too late tonight) ... let's see if we can rule out this 50% of the crash causes !

The good news is, v1.0f (about to be uploaded, it's done) has a commit that might well fix this exact crash cause (ping pong timeout).
