Nope, nothing in the config that would impede the powerbutton to turn off the device ... never ran into such an issue ...

Maybe nandroid and test either a different kernel and/or different ROM to rule out the ROM or kernel in this case.

I reflashed the rom and didn't see any aroma settings on there. Unless they were the ones selected by default yank. So far no screen issues but at first when I restarted the phone the screen wouldn't turn on until I reset the phone by holding the power button down for a couple seconds. I don't feel it snappy. Idk but maybe it's just me

You would need to actually also flash the kernel zip to run the kernel, THAT is when you'll see the Aroma menu ;)

What does the About say under kernel ??

At keast my kernel is installed, so you have to have gone through Aroma installer fkashing it.

But I don't understand the problems you're running into, I haven't face a single one of those, and haven't had such reported by anyone else :(

Try using the stock kernel for a few days and see how that works, if it's the same, then it's some app or a ROM issue. if it's better, then it's likely the kernel, then I'd suggest to stick to stock kernel on that ROM.

I run my kernel on SlimLP, that's what I make it for.
